The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge (IPC) is deeply saddened to announce the passing of Prof. Yves Buisson, who died on 26 November 2025 in France. In his memory, IPC held a solemn and heartfelt commemoration ceremony on Thursday, 4 December, gathering staff members to honor his remarkable legacy and unwavering dedication to global scientific advancement, public health, and training.

Prof. Buisson served as Director of the Institut Pasteur du Cambodge from 1999 to 2001, guiding the institution through important scientific developments and strengthening its role within the broader international research landscape. Following his tenure in Cambodia, he became Executive Delegate to the International Network of Pasteur Institutes, reflecting his deep commitment to global collaboration.

Earlier in his distinguished career, Prof. Buisson led the Laboratory of the Institut Pasteur in Dakar and served as a medical biologist and specialist in tropical medicine within the French Armed Forces Medical Service. His expertise and leadership earned him a seat as a Member of the French National Academy of Medicine, a distinction he held since 2007.

Prof. Buisson remained active in scientific missions throughout his life, including a visit to IPC in June 2023 during an Academy delegationโ€”an occasion remembered with great admiration.

The Institut Pasteur du Cambodge extends its deepest condolences to Prof. Buissonโ€™s family, friends, colleagues, and all who were touched by his extraordinary contributions to science and global health.
