Marte Wwayy And Two Others identified As victim killed in Multi-Car Crash on I-57
All northbound lanes of I-57 were closed for part of the morning rush on Thursday after a devastating multi-car crash claimed three lives and left five others injured.
The incident began just after midnight in south suburban Calumet City. Illinois State Police responded to an initial report of a three-vehicle collision south of 120th Street. Tragically, the situation escalated when another vehicle, not involved in the first crash, struck three people who were outside of their cars in the aftermath.

The three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. They have been identified as Daekwon, Marty, and Ruben Marte of Chicago, Illinois. Five additional individuals sustained injuries.
Video from the scene showed debris scattered across hundreds of feet, illustrating the force of the impact. Witnesses described an erratic driver, possibly in a black vehicle traveling at extremely high speeds, as a potential cause for the initial collision. The investigation into the exact circumstances of the crash remains active and ongoing.
