Daniel Walsh, Identified As Los Altos Man Dies Following Solo Accident

A 75-year-old Los Altos man died last week following a single-vehicle crash on Foothill Expressway. The incident has cast a pall over the community as authorities continue their investigation.

The collision occurred around 11 a.m. on Friday, November 28. Los Altos police officers responded to a report of a crash near the intersection of Foothill Expressway and Grant Road. Upon arrival, they discovered a gray 2024 Volkswagen Jetta that had been severely damaged. The sole occupant, the driver, was still inside the vehicle.

According to a social media post from the Los Altos Police Department, officers and arriving paramedics immediately attempted life-saving measures at the scene. The man was subsequently transported by ambulance to Stanford Hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office has identified the victim as Daniel Walsh, a resident of Los Altos. His official cause of death is still pending.

A preliminary police investigation indicates that Walsh was traveling westbound on Foothill Expressway, heading towards Loyola Corners, when his vehicle veered into the center median. The Jetta then collided with a large tree.

The Los Altos Police Department is urging anyone who witnessed the collision to come forward to assist with the investigation. Witnesses are asked to contact traffic investigator Kevin Vitorelo at 650-947-2695.
